I have come to like Safari as a browser. It is not because it is fast or has the best rendering engine (that is geek speak mom). I like it because of the ecosystem features.

I have the iPhone, an iPad and a MacBook Pro (for work, everything is Microsoft). Having said this, I am going to show you how to use XX features in Safari.

They are:

Bookmarks

Reading List

iCloud Tabs

Social Posting

Bookmarks

Everyone has used bookmarks. They pretty much work the same in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. The feature I really like in Safari is the integration with the iCloud. If you have them turned on with the iCloud, then you can see what you bookmarked on your phone when working on your iPad or Mac. This makes life much easier for me. I don’t have to remember which device I bookmarked it on. It is just there.

Steps:

On each device (your iPhone, iPad and Mac) go to settings.

Then click on iCloud.

If you have not setup your account (the login and password you use to download apps) then you will be asked for it. If you have already set it up, then skip this step.

Look for Safari and be sure the toggle is set to “On”.

You are done.

Reading List

Apple came up with this great idea for Reading List! Ok, they did not come up with it. They copied somebody else, but it is great to have it integrated into Safari. Now I don’t have to download a separate app for it.

The Reading List is similar to Bookmarks. You can add any web page to your Reading List like you can Bookmarks, but unlike Bookmarks, you can use Reading Lists offline. You do not have to hooked up to the internet to read what you added to your Reading List. It also keeps track of what you have read and what you have not.

Example:

You come across a great article while browsing on your phone before you leave work. You have an iPad, but it only has wifi. On your bus ride home, you need something to read. You pull out your iPad and open Safari. To bad you only have wifi, but good thing you sent the article to your Reading List (you would have needed your iPad to be connected to the internet before you left work). Now you can read the article from your Reading List on your iPad.

Steps:

Complete the steps for Bookmarks above.

Open Safari

Find a webpage you want to add to your Reading List. If you can’t find one, add any page from www.sirslur.com. I hear he is a great writer.

Click on the Box with the Arrow jumping out icon.

Go to your other device (iPad or Mac).

Open Safari.

Click on the Book button and choose Reading List.

You now have 2 options: All and Unread.

Choose the page you want to read.

iCloud Tabs

I have to admit, this is a cool feature. This feature allows you to see what tabs are open in Safari on your other devices. So, if you are on your iPhone and you want to see something that you were looking at on your iPad, you can. This is handy when you forget to bookmark a page or add it to a Reading List.

It is simple to do. Open Safari on any device. Then, on a Mac, click the cloud icon at the top. On the iPhone or iPad, click bookmarks and then the iCloud Tabs option. You then see in sections what tabs are open on the other devices.

Social Posting

Social Posting is the ability to Tweet or Facebook the page you are viewing.

On the iPhone or iPad, click the Arrow Box at the bottom of Safari. You will then see many options including Facebook and Twitter. Once you choose one (facebook or Twitter), you can add some comments before you post the link.

Enjoy the features of Safari.

You can still go to McDonalds and get the game pieces on the food that you buy. If you are like me and do not like to eat there, you can play online.

Here is how you get codes to play online. The first method is to use the codes below. The second is to get the 11 digit code from the game pieces on McDonalds food. Then go to the link below and create your account (or login if you already have an account). Next enter the code you have and choose from the 3 prizes to be entered in the drawing. Repeat the process for any other codes you may have. You can only use a code 1 time.

Here is where you go to play: http://www.playatmcd.com/

Here are some codes to use:

CODEFORMORE

FREECODEMCR
